Leavenworth, Washington is located in a unique area with fascinating geographic and geologic features just outside of town. The rugged North Cascade Mountains have incredible alpine meadows, lakes and glaciers, but a short distance away are amazing coulees, canyons, farmlands and small towns that seem to have been captured in time. Take a drive and explore!

This region is famous for outstanding apples, pears and cherries, so check out one of the many local fruit stands throughout the valley. With new wineries opening up all the time, this area will some day rival Napa Valley, so come explore some new wineries and discover why this state is now the second largest wine producer in the nation!
Enjoy the Rivers and Lakes
The long, hot summers here provide incredible water activities. In addition to the Wenatchee and Icicle Rivers in Leavenworth, just a short distance east is the mighty Columbia River. A short distance north is the Entiat River, flowing out of the mountains crystal clear. A bit further north is the largest fresh water fjord in the country, Lake Chelan, with clear, vivid blue water and many miles of raw wilderness along its shores.
Enjoy Music, Country Fairs & Farmer's Markets
Driving south from Leavenworth, you can take in a concert at the famous Gorge Amphitheater, a natural coulee with amazing acoustical properties that many famous bands have come to love. Also, there are numerous Farmer's Markets and country fairs throughout Chelan County during the warmer months, where you can discover local crafts, fruits, produce and other hand-crafted food items and local gifts.
